EAST CALHOUN HOME IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM
Whether you are planning to make energy-related improvements or other exterior improvements to your home, East Calhoun NRP program and the Center for Energy and Environment (CEE) have financing options that will make your projects more affordable!
We are offering a Matching Grant Program and Low Interest Loans for East Calhoun residents.
The Matching Grant Program features a matching grant of 25% NRP funds to 75% homeowner funds, with a maximum grant of $3,000. There are no income limits.
The Low Interest Loan program offers 4% fixed rate loans with flexible terms with a maximum loan of $7,500. Household income limits apply.

Applications are being accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

NOTE: DO NOT begin your projects until after you have applied, been approved and have closed on your loan with CEE. No projects will be awarded funding through this program if they have already been started or completed prior to loan/grant closing.

 


HOME ENERGY WORKSHOP
Learn how to reduce your home energy use and save money.
A free educational energy workshop for East Calhoun residents was held Thursday, September 16, 2010 at St. Mary's Greek Orthodox Church.We had a wonderful turn out and a great event.
If you couldn't make that workshop, but are still interested, you may attend one in another neighborhood.

By attending the workshop, you are eligible to receive a customized home visit, a $400 energy efficiency package for a co-pay of only $30. To make it even better, ECCO NRP funds will reimburse the co-pay for the first 150 homeowners who participate, giving you a $400 value for FREE! 
Funding for this project was provided by the MinnesotaEnvironment and Natural Resources Trust Fund as recommended by theLegislative-Citizen Commission on Minnesota Resources(LCCMR).

 


HOME SECURITY GRANTS
Home Security Grant Application East Calhoun NRP funds will reimburse homeowners up to $250 for home security upgrades. One grant per household. TREE TREATMENT GRANTS
Tree Treatment Grant Application East Calhoun NRP funds will reimburse homeowners up to $250 for licensed professional treatment of elm trees to prevent Dutch Elm Disease and/or licensed professional treatment of green ash trees to prevent or treat infestation by the Emerald Ash Borer. This program include trees on the boulevard and/or on the owner’s property. RAIN BARREL/COMPOST BIN GRANTS
Rain Barrel/Compost Bin Application East Calhoun NRP funds will reimburse homeowners up to $100 for the purchase of a rain barrel and/or compost bin. The application for the grants can be obtained by downloading this pdf: RainBarrell:CompostGrant.pdf


NRP PHASE II ACTION PLAN APPROVED
The NRP Phase II Action Plan was approved
by a neighborhood-wide vote on Thursday, March 4, 2010. Residents had the option of voting on the plan by mail or by attending the ECCO Board meeting on March 4th. The plan was approved by the NRP Policy Board on March 22nd and bythe Minneapolis City Council on April 16th.
